LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING #13ATTRACTION BONUS
THE CROWN IN RIGHT OF ALBERTA(The Employer)

THE ALBERTA UNION OF PROVINCIAL EMPLOYEES(The Union)
The Parties agree:
An Attraction Bonus of 25% of base pay will be paid on a quarterly basis over the first year of employment, less all lawful deductions, to individuals recruited to permanent salaried positions in Fort McMurray or locations north of the 57th parallel. The Attraction Bonus will be pro-rated for individuals recruited to temporary salaried full-time or part-time positions. The Attraction Bonus is non-pensionable compensation.
All external new hires to the Government of Alberta who are recruited to positions in any of the designated locations shall be eligible for the Attraction Bonus. All Government of Alberta Employees who currently work and reside outside of these designated areas and relocate to one of the designated locations are eligible for the Attraction Bonus.
An Employee will receive the Attraction Bonus one time only during the term of the Attraction Bonus program, regardless of their transfer to another position in one of the designated locations.
A two-year return service agreement must be completed between the Employee and the Ministry. If the Employee terminates prior to the expiry of the return service period, repayment of the Attraction Bonus on a pro-rated basis is required.
